I had a totally different concept in mind when I started this project. I had a serious, interview-based project idea, but somehow none of that came together the way that I wanted it to.
I was panicking! I had no video, no ideas, and only a few days to get it all done! My friend Thomas happens to have a film degree so I called on him for some much needed help. I went to his house and we spent about an hour trying to come up with something to film. There was an Elmo pinata sitting in the corner of his living room. Once we acknowledged this as a viable prop, it all started to form.
The video is sort of intended to be a commentary on love and attraction, and is actually super depressing when considered on this level. Basically, Elmo goes through a number of moves in an attempt to gain my affection including giving a gift, changing his appearance with a leaf mustache (which was a bitch to attach, by the way), and other typical actions one might go through in order to gain love. Then we decided to rip his arm off which was more comical than anything else. And the end, when I eat what I guess would be his insides illustrates the lack of care that managed to follow all of the sincere attempts. I am a bid cynic when it comes to love and I am a huge fan of unhappy endings, so poor Elmo suffered.
But you could also view it in a lot of other ways.
Also, I am reading the Milepost in the video because I forgot to being a book to the park and happened to have that in my car. This was a very spontaneous hodgepodge of a video. :)
